The Venue

The Temple is located on the very busy Western Road, the main shopping street of the city and the busiest road from Brighton to Hove. It's close to a number of other small Fringe venues in the area and the beach. Through the year the performance space is used for extra seating for the busy bar, along with regular music, functions, and student video games nights!

The Fringe performance space is the upstairs room, which is separate from the main bar downstairs and the space is separated from the stairs by a thick curtain. It is a cosy and intimate space, ideal for solo shows. There is also a large outdoor seating area to the front of the pub, and when the weather is good the whole front of the bar opens to bring the outside in. The venue also has a full menu, and there are DJs/Club nights at the weekend.

The Performance Space: The Upstairs Room

• Stage: 2m x 1m flat on floor. It is easy to step of the stage to utilise extra space by reducing seating.
• Backstage: The sound area, accessible from stage right doubles as a small backstage area. this can be fully curtained off from the main part of the room.
• Capacity: 50
• Lighting: Basic Stage lighting to Flood the stage.
• Blackout: Not Possible 
• PA System: In House PA system. Mixer at Sound Position with cables to stage. 3 Cable Mics, Mic Stands and small audio jack to plug in MP3 Player provided.
• AV: A large TV screen can be used, located on stage and behind curtains when not in use.
• Storage: There is a very small area for equipment at the venue for props and equipment, shared with other groups.
• Green Room/Performers Area: No - but the sound booth/back stage area can be used.
• Bar: There is no bar in the room, the nearest bar is downstairs in the main bar
• Accessibility: This performance space is not wheelchair accessible as it is up a full flight of stairs.
